Cooking
Macaroni Salad: I have finally published my macaroni salad recipe on my site - I have been sitting on this recipe for years! It’s one of those recipes I’m always playing around with so it’s hard to write an exact recipe. But I tried my best to type out a base recipe you can play around with too. Made this on Saturday with some BBQ chicken skewers and drumsticks I picked up from the butcher.
Other things I cooked:
Pesto potatoes: I picked up pesto sauce and some fingerling potatoes at the Italian market near my place. I roasted the potatoes with olive oil, salt n pep, and once they were fork tender and crisp on the outside, tossed them in the pesto sauce as a kind of warm potato salad. Perfect side with roasted salmon!
Emily Mariko Salmon Bowl: ok I have been following Emily’s mesmerizing IG feed for quite a few months but this was my first time making her viral salmon bowl. It’s so easy and made for a great “take to the office” lunch because it’s pretty tasty cold as well. I didn’t have avocado so ate mine with cucumber slices - delish! I can’t get it to link but if you google her name it will come up!
“Clean out the fridge” frittata: I started by thinly slicing sweet potatoes and tossing them with olive oil, salt n pep and shingled them onto the bottom of a parchment paper-lined cake pan. I roasted those at 400F until tender before adding my frittata “filling”. I did sliced mushrooms, zucchini, red onion and cherry tomatoes with 6 eggs, ⅓ cup cream, and some grated gruyere cheese (& salt n pep!). Baked it for about 45 mins until the eggs were set and the top was browned!
Grossy’s Vodka Sawce: always a go-to for me when I don’t have many ingredients on hand.
Eating
Went to Wynona in Toronto with two friends this week - such a spectacular meal. Their menu changes seasonally but their focaccia and seasonal burrata is a must-have. Definitely add to your list (and make a reso!).
Drinking
The Farm - Poolhouse, Rose of Pinot Noir - another perfect summer wine!

@gkstories I’ve linked them before but I love their account for veggie inspo in the summer. I recently saved their Harissa Tomato Pasta with Yogurt to make soon.

Using
I should just name this section BUY A MEAT THERMOMETER. This is my monthly reminder that a meat thermometer is the best way to know your meat is cooked to temperature without having to cut into it or overcooking it! The summer is a perfect time to get used to using one with all that grilling ahead of you!
Thinking
About spontaneous plans. My two friends were in the neighbourhood on Saturday and popped over to visit, which turned into an afternoon bbq on my balcony. How thrilling to be able to just...decide to do something again!

Have a great week,
