This week is a shorter round-up as I have been busy travelling/getting settled back in Toronto.
Cooking
Pasta Social Club’s Potato Gnocchi: she is my go-to for homemade pasta tips, these gnocchi were delicious. I used the leftover potato from my potato skins last week, so I skipped the first few steps as I already had potato.
Other things I cooked:
First Mess’s Creamy Lemon Orzo with Chickpeas and Broccoli: I loved this dish, will definitely make it again. I loved how the broccoli gets a little charred. Note: you do need to soak cashews for at least 2 hours before making this, so don’t make my mistake and notice this right before beginning to cook!
Grossy Pelosi’s Chocolate Chip Cookies: I am obsessed with these chocolate chip cookies - I made a batch of these for my last night home and left cookie dough for my family’s freezers. Be sure to look at his pictures for each step - the method is a bit different than most cookies.
Smitten Kitchen’s Cornbread Waffles: keeping the cornmeal brunch theme alive, I made these favourite waffles for my last brunch in Nova Scotia
NYT Crispy Oven Bacon and Eggs: always a go-to for cooking bacon and eggs for a crowd, this is my favourite way to do “fried” eggs for multiple people
Eden Grinshpans’s Shakshuka: I didn’t have harissa so just added a bunch of dried spices (cumin, coriander, cayenne, chilli powder) but it was still delish! The creamy tahini sauce was so good with it!
Ottolenghi Shrimp, Tomato and Marinated Feta: ok YUM - this is a new favourite to add into the rotation. One pan, so full of flavour (must love fennel seed), and like all Ottolenghi dishes, it makes you pause and think. Definitely going to make this again.

Honestly been doing a lot of “comfort” listening this past week, so folklore has been on repeat.
Thinking
About how wonderful it is to have a clean fridge. When I got back this weekend my first cleaning activity in my apartment was deep cleaning my fridge (including removing all the shelves to clean them) - felt so good to start fresh!
