Cooking
I flew home to Nova Scotia on Saturday so this past week featured limited cooking as I prepped my apartment for my departure - a lot of leftovers from the freezer and eating out. In lieu of a round-up of things I cooked, here’s a list of recipes from my site that are perfect for the holiday season:
For gifting: Maple Sriracha Bits and Bites are the perfect large-batch snack to make and package up in cute holiday cellophane baggies or decorative tins as a made-at-home treat.
For a cozy night in: Chorizo Stuffed Dates are a few ingredient meal or appetizer that will warm your soul. Chicken Stew with Cranberry Dough-boys is a perfect, cozy dinner to use up your leftover cranberry sauce. Mushroom Tourtiere is my veggie version of my fav holiday savoury pie.
For a holiday party: Brussels Sprout and Ricotta Crostinis are always a hit and are easy to prep ahead of time to assemble right before serving. Spicy Feta Dip is a three-ingredient warm dip that holds up at room temperature making it a great party app. Leek & Spinach Spanikopita take a bit of time to prep and assemble, but you can freeze them before baking, making them an easy app to “bake-to-serve”. Sweet and Spicy Cheeseball always surprises people with its addictive flavour (secret ingredient: pineapple!).
For a side: Leek and Cauliflower Puree is a lighter but just as flavourful alt to mashed potatoes. My Go-to-Winter Side Salad (the first recipe ever on my site!) is perfectly acidic and bright to balance any winter meal.
For a festive brunch: Leek, Mushroom and Camembert Quiche makes for a great start to the day topped with honey and served with a light salad. Tangy Tomato Chutney makes the perfect condiment for a twist on eggs benny.
For a sweet treat: Mom’s Whipped Shortbreads are my fav festive cookie. Ginger Molasses Cake is the perfect small-batch cake for a smaller dinner crowd. Mom’s Orange Chocolate Chip Cookies give a festive nod to the classic chocolate chip cookie. Lemon Olive Oil Cake is my favourite one-bowl cake when you want something light and not-so-sweet to end a meal, perfect as is or topped with berries or fruit.
Drinking
Back to my fav sour out there - Breton Brewing Let’s Jam.

Listening
Carry Me Home by Hey Rosetta!. This is the song my blog is named after (spot the lyric!), and it always gives me all the feels over the holidays.
Using
Silk Peppermint Mocha Coffee Creamer. Decided to try out this festive creamer after seeing a few people post about it on IG - quite delicious! I typically don’t put anything sweet in my coffee so I think it’s more a weekend treat for me, but I like that the flavour isn’t too overwhelming.
Thinking
About vegetables. After a week of not cooking at home, I’m really craving lots of veggies. Yesterday we did a quick grocery run to stock the fridge with lots of fruits and veg.
